There was no particular reason to redo this OVA like we usually have (wowmd's LD rip, dehardsubbing, etc), but this once, I have simply been personally interested to watch it, and upon perusing the existing 2006 .srt softsubs by [RiP], I was sorely disappointed to find out that nearly every line that was more complex than "Tadaima" was a rough guesslation, and if a line was too difficult, they'd just straight up go "(quiz on Japanese history)". Hence, this is a brand new translation. Eternal_Blizzard also kindly agreed to QC in exchange for me checking his Isami subs that drove me closer than ever to suicide, and Marty Mcflies volunteered because I showed him a screenshot with Taruruuto. The encode is also new, kindly provided by the expert encoder of the Orphan fansubs. Since the show was only ever released on DVD, there wasn't much room for improvement, but it still looks a little nicer than the previous rips. Here's what the encoder had to say: The source presented an interesting case in that each disc contained two versions of an episode, a shorter version and a slightly longer one with about ~1 minute of additional footage inserted. I encoded the longer versions for completion sake. MPRaws had also made a modern encode which I checked before beginning, however they only encoded the shorter editions. Also each episode contains two selectable audio tracks with the difference being in alternative seiyuu dubbing for a character as best as I can discern. I've included both options in the encodes, making these dual-audio RAWs. Someone on Orphan's team who can read the disc menu selection screens contained above will hopefully be able to make sense of the options and label them approximately for end viewers. Otherwise, the source made for a clean IVTC of the main film portion, with VFR to preserve smooth motion in the ending credits. Moderate AA was utilized to combat very sharp aliasing which was common for SD digital anime of this period and softens the image a bit. Also some debanding was applied to combat posterization in darker scenes. So yes, curiously, the DVDs contained two sets of audio tracks, with a DVD menu to switch between "standard" and "special" versions. The difference between these two versions is that in the "standard" track, the three main girls of the show—[Haruka](https://anidb.net/character/19988), [Maki](https://anidb.net/character/20002), and [Eri](https://anidb.net/character/19990)—are voiced by professional VAs, found in the links above. In the "special" version, however, these three are voiced by [Wakana Sakai](https://mydramalist.com/people/1002-sakai-wakana), [Sayaka Isoyama](https://mydramalist.com/people/6595-isoyama-sayaka), and [Waka Inoue](https://mydramalist.com/people/3151-inoue-waka) respectively—all were primarily gravure idols at the time, and later made careers as live-action actresses, with no other anime credits to speak of. I've never heard of this way of promotion, and I don't really understand what they were playing at, but it's a curious case nonetheless. If you repost this release on other trackers, please take the trouble to also repost my explanation for why there are two sets of tracks. This release includes both audio sets, with the standard version being selected by default, although for some reason, I like the special, "gravure idol" edition more—not being seasoned VA's, they sound out of place, but that somehow only makes the show feel more alive and special, rather than sounding like every other anime out there. However, there are differences in delivery, some lines that are present in standard version are missing from the gravure version, and for others, the text is slightly different, so there are two sets of subs as well, to go with an according audio track. I named them "Normal Version" and "Gravure Idol Version".
